Built to ASME VIII Div. 1 requirements
Fire tube construction
Effective engine silencer
Vertical or horizontal configurations available
Standard Expansion joint accommodates differences in tube and shell temperatures.
Special configurations allow cold, dry start-up.
Steam generators have integral steam space and separator
Various exhaust connection arrangements accommodate most installation requirements

Uses

Steam generation
Water heating

Description

The MBT is a fire tube type heat recovering unit that can be supplied in various configurations. It is used primarily on large reciprocating engines and those that use heavy fuels.

HSS
Features

Sizes – 1,000 lbs/hr to 50,000 lbs/hr nominal steam rate
Design Pressure – 20 and 150 psi standard, other available
Built to ASME I or VIII Div. 1 requirements
Available with or without controls
Separation efficiency – 98% standard, other available
Available with or without insulation

Uses

Steam separation from a water-steam input stream

Description

The HSS is an impact-type separator designed for use with MAXIM® Heat Recovery Equipment such as the MFT and GTW and ebulliently cooled reciprocating engines. It separates the steam from the mixture entering the unit; serves as a liquid reservoir, level control point, and a blow down point for system contaminants; and mounts system safety devices.

Standard trim components include:
  1. Liquid level controller
  2. Safety valve
  3. Liquid level gauge
  4. Surface blow-off valve
  1. Automatic air venting
  2. Liquid drain valve
  3. Pressure indicator
  4. High and low level switches

TRP
Features

Sizes – 3” to 18” exhaust connections
Design Pressure – 20 psi
Built to ASME VIII Div. 1 requirements
Water tube construction for minimum warm-up time
Effective engine silencer
Integral steam separator
Removable tube bundle

Uses

Steam Generation

Description

The TRP is a combination water tube heat recovery unit, steam separator, and chamber-type engine silencer. It is used primarily on ebullient cooled reciprocating engines to recover both exhaust and jacket water heat in the form of low pressure steam.

WVS/WHS
Features

Sizes – 3” to 30” exhaust gas connections
Design Pressure – 75 psi standard, other available
Built to ASME VIII Div. 1 requirements
Annular water jacket (tubeless construction)
Effective engine silencer
Removable covers for access to gas passages for inspection
and cleaning
Various exhaust connection arrangements available to
facilitate installation
Various support arrangements available
Non-pressure parts of low alloy weathering steel available
for sewage gas fueled engines

Uses

Water heating

Description

The WVS/WHS is a combination annular jacket (tubeless) heat recovery unit and chamber-type silencer used primarily on the exhaust of a reciprocating engine.  The WVS is designed for vertical installation while the WHS is installed horizontally

BVS
Features

Sizes – 3” to 30” exhaust gas connections
Design Pressure – 20 psi standard, other available
Built to ASME VIII Div. 1 requirements
Annular water jacket (tubeless construction)
Effective engine silencer
Removable cover for access to gas passages for inspection and cleaning
Internal steam separator
Various exhaust connection arrangements available to facilitate installation
Various support arrangements available
Non-pressure parts of low alloy weathering steel available for sewage gas fueled engines

Uses

Steam generation

Description

The BVS is a combination annular jacket (tubeless) heat recovery unit and chamber-type silencer used primarily on the exhaust of a reciprocating engine. It has an internal steam separator for producing saturated steam and must be installed vertically.

GTW
Features

Sizes – 15,000 lbs/hr to 225,000 lbs/hr nominal exhaust gas flowrate
Design Pressure – 150 psi standard, other available
Built to ASME VIII Div. 1 requirements
Water tube construction for minimum warm-up time
Modular design to suit system operating requirements
Compact size
Low gas side pressure drop
Internal diverter valve and bypass duct available
Supplementary silencers available
Available in either a horizontal or vertical gas flow configuration

Uses

Steam Generation
Hot water heating

Description

The GTW is a water tube heat recovery unit used primarily on the exhaust of a gas turbine.  Modular design allows the unit to be tailored to the heat transfer and pressure drop requirements of each installation. It can be used in combination with a model HSS steam separator to produce saturated steam or used alone as a liquid heater.  When used as a liquid heater, the modules can be arranged in either a parallel or series configuration. The optional internal diverter valve allows operation with variable system heat requirements. Vertical or horizontal gas flow arrangements are available. The GTW provides a nominal amount of noise reduction and supplementary silencers are usually required to meet facility noise requirements.
